Can I borrow books from the library to a friend or girlfriend?

It is your reader account and borrow books for your needs. You are also fully responsible for borrowed books and I expect to return them on time and in good order.

When do I have to return the books?

Standard loan: 1 month, can be extended (you can keep the book at home for a maximum of 3 months)

Study fund: 5 months, you return it after passing the exams (you can keep the book at home for a maximum of 10 months)

On-site loan (marked with a yellow stripe): 1 day, return by 12:00 the next day at the latest

I don't check my reader account daily, is there a way to find out when my loans end? And how do they extend?

If you check your email, you will receive a notification that the end of the loan period is approaching. After logging into your reader account, you will see when your loans expire and if they can be extended. It's simple - nobody else wants them and you don't have them at home for more than three months? Then an extension is possible. But if you don't return the books or don't extend them, you will be charged a late fee: 3 CZK per book per day, on-site loan 50 CZK per book per day. You can find the full rental regulations here.

Where can I find what books the Medical Library of the LF HK has?

The UKAŽ library catalog is for all UK university libraries. In order to find out exactly what the Medical Library of the LF HK offers, you need to apply the filter "Library" - Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové in the left bar. You can also access the PEZ electronic resources portal from the UKAŽ catalog.

Are e-books only available in the faculty building?

No worries, all databases are available on the faculty network and through remote access. All you need is to log in via CAS. Some databases also have a mobile application, so you can study from anywhere after logging in.

Does it matter that I'm not a UK student? Can I still go to the Medical Library and use its services?

It does not matter! You will certainly find with us what you would use for your research or work. You need to get a card at the Dispensing Center (Na Kotli) and then you can borrow books from our library, use reading rooms or study e-resources available for external users.
